DOCSR&R8.ROL
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin - words & music by Jimmy Page
& Robert Plant
My son (Cody) took me along on one of his trips to the mall. I should have
known something was up. I mean, what 17 yr old boy wants to take his parent
to the Mall on a Saturday afternoon. I wouldn't be caught dead with my
parents at the local hot spot much less invite them to go with me.
Damn I love summer. People just look better, and all younger than me, but
better (haha). Slowly we worked our way through the video arcade and final
to the the music store (which he & I frequent for CD's). He went his way
(heavy metal) and I went mine (R&R). We both came back to the register with
something in hand. I had CD's he and had a book. We walked through the mall
made comments about how good people (women) look (male bonding type thing)
and headed for home. I was listening to my CD's and he opened the book and
started looking through it. Being the the observant parent I am I never
questioned what he was doing (typical me). 30 mins later he gave me the
book, "The Revised NEW Giant Book of Rock".
He had marked over 45 songs for me to put into Adlib so he could record them
on tape (some of his friend like the tunes). There was only one problem, I
DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ MUSIC!!!!!
Stairway to Heaven is my first attempt at trying to do this tedious task. I
never knew there was so much to the writing of music. I guess if you do
things by ear you never have full appreciation for music. It would have help
if I had a copy of the song but that CD was borrowed by my 3 yr old
granddaughter and will never work again. I also always thought there was only
one meaning for MF. This is not a direct transcribe. I put percussion in
the song so obviously there were some voices left out. There are mistakes,
but it was fun to do. I hope you enjoy it.
Many of the instruments were modified so the DOCSR&R8.BNK MUST be substituted
for the STANDARD.BNK.
Thanks to my wife for putting up with me and this computer, Cody for the book
and the MARKED songs, to Neil for thinking ahead and minoring in music, & to
Mrs. Hart would taught me "Every Good Boy Does Fine - FACE it.
Hey!!! there is a copy of Stairway to Heaven out there. I like mine. One
thing really weird is that some of the instruments I modified were close to
mine and the song is in the same key. I guess you talk about luck. I guess
first timers are lucky in the beginning. Next on my son's list is Summertime
Blues. How in the hell do you get that voice (in place of the lyrics) in
there?????
As always, if all else fails, change the instruments, the tempo, pitch to fit
you personnel desires and get a beer, and enjoy it!!!!!!.

If you hear a harmonic or distortion then the problem may be:
05/05/91
--------
1. You did not substitute the DOCS*.BNK as your STANDARD.BNK
2. Your player is messed up
3. Your equipment allows distortions or harmonics. An equalizer, DB meter
and a CD with test frequencies will help you "cut-out" you problem areas.
05/25/91
--------
4. Your player may be giving some problems. I am trying MuchMusic v1.1 by
Tsung Hu and have experienced a few problems with some of the elaborate
ROLS. (NOTE: I am not saying that MuchMusic is at fault here!!!!!) I get
QEMM memory errors and also at times the tempo is too fast or slow. The
problem I have may in deed be MY problem and not Hu's. I have yet to have
any problems with Adlib's Composer or Juke Box Player (but what a pain to
use). AS for me I'll keep trying MuchMusic.

5. Still having problem with a player other than AdLib Composer or Juke Box.
Will soon be trying the Sputter Series.

6. The Sputter Series did a decent job, but what a hassle. Went back to
MuchMusic till something else comes along. In all honesty I usually
listen via the Adlib compose of JukeBox. I like the compose sometimes
because it allows to see what the composer was doing and how.
